Build Details

After much deliberation, as we're sure most people agonise over, we chose to build a Newhaven 33 with Metricon Homes. The  promotion available at the time of selection and tender (early 2010) was called the Reflections Package.

At the time of making this choice, there were no Newhaven's on display in NSW, so we chose to fly up to the Gold Coast for the day with our 3 year old daughter, drive to Ormeau, take copious amounts of photos and videos of the display home there, returning home that evening completely knackered! In mid 2010 a Newhaven display was opened in Chisholm, near Maitland.


The standard floor plan of the 33 is here. We added an outdoor room offset to the centre of the rear. Some of the many reasons why we fell in love with this house design:

• Clever use of Space
  It's not a "McMansion" but everything is really well proportioned.

• Open plan Kitchen with Butlers pantry option
  Mandatory wife requirement.

• Master Bedroom to rear of home
  Our land position is quite elevated and depending on the final rooftop height of the homes to our rear, we may get a view of the Blue Mountains.

• Garage Setback
  This ability to do this gives us more driveway length

• Open study and Living room
  This creates separate zones in the house... kids can be watching TV, one parent in the kitchen and one parent in the study and still be able to supervise the children and not be closed into separate rooms.
